Gold dealers are highly risk averse due to the volatility with the metals market,
plus they are very unlikely to speculate on future spot price*.
Get the appraisal about the jewelry first, including the gram weight, then negotiate
for the new purchase. )Be careful when choosing gold bullion if sellers say it is

AT&T Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum: Where Are They Now?

This blast from the past is a group photo that was taken of the AT&T Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum.  It’s an alumni photo of sorts, as the 2-year program (which concluded several years ago), brings back fond memories of collaboration and sharing best practices on future trends in ICT and telecommunications.

We often run into many of these great female technology executives at other conferences, like the upcoming WBENC National Conference in Austin and recently at DiversityNXT and the ISM National Conference in early May.  We may see a couple of these ladies at the upcoming QuEST Forum Leadership Council and Work Groups in Dallas today!

Featured in this photo in the back row (third from the left) is BIZPHYX President and CEO, Sue Clancy standing next to Cathy Martine (second from the left).  Cathy Martine who led this initiative, is President of AT&T Enterprise Business Solutions.  Also featured in the front row (second from the right) is our colleague in QuEST Forum, Betty Manetta who is President and CEO of Argent Associates, Inc.

Miss you ladies and let’s keep driving innovation in the ICT industry!

ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety (Draft): The Voting Has Begun

As you may be aware, the forthcoming standard from ISO on workplace safety has reached the committee draft stage of development.  ISO 45001 is poised to replace OHSAS 18001.

The standard sets forth requirements for occupational health and safety management systems.  ISO 45001 is currently at the committee draft stage of development, the first consultation phase.  During this stage, the countries (ISO members) that have chosen to participate in the standard’s development, can comment on the draft.

Many people have asked, why an “international standard”?

According to ISO.org, here is a great visual example:

The reality is that around 2.34 million people died as a result of work-related accidents and diseases in 2013 alone.  Approximately 2 million are the result of work-related illnesses and 321, 000 are due to accidents.

A strong occupational health and safety management system can bring these numbers down by reducing accidents and ill health linked to the workplace.  ISO 45001 will provide requirements to put in place a system and structure that protects and reduces risk to employees.

There are many benefits to an ISO standard for occupational health and safety.

Two that we believe are worthy of focus are:

    1.  Small businesses often have only one person looking after both safety and environmental concerns, so the committee is making sure that easy integration with ISO 14001 is possible.  The cross-functionality with ISO 14001 is a true positive.

    2.  Many organizations are already using ISO management system standards, which will make integrating a similar standard on occupational health and safety much easier vs. maintaining a different guideline like OHSAS 18001.

This is just the second step, in a multi-phase process, with much more to come.  For more information, you can access this page from ISO to download the briefing note.  Stay tuned, as we will post any additional updates as they occur.
